Why join the tour of Humboldthain Flak Tower
Perfect for WWII history buffs, this unique tour tells of Berlin’s anti-aircraft defense system, Humboldthain Flak Tower’s critical role as shelter for 30,000 civilians and the ‘Russian encirclement’ during the fall of the Nazi empire. After a pleasant walk through the rose garden, your knowledgeable guide will lead you up the man-made hill covering the half demolished flak tower. Entering the concrete monolith, you can explore the upper two floors past piles of rubble, sheared off staircases and exposed steel which hold the massive structure together. Plus, all money generated from ticket sales is put to work by the non-profit to uncover more of Berlin underground history.
Please note: All participants must be over 14 years.
We had the pleasure of being in Berlin for 9 days recently, mainly because we wanted to explore the fascinating history of this intriguing city... and one of the best ways we found to do that was to take this tours. It really makes a difference seeing real parts of Berlin's WWII hsistory that are still extant, seeing part of the inside of the semi-demolished nearby flak-tower. And unfortunately I don't remember the name of our guide, but he was excellent. If you want an authentic, and unique look, at Berlin's past- you really should take this tour!
